Porté par Transonic et Mahorka, cet ultime chapitre concrétise le projet de Pastoral,
le duo forgé en 2010 par Christophe Bailleau et Philippe Franck.
Façonné après la disparition de ce dernier en janvier 2025,
le présent album esquive avec une grâce absolue les écueils d'un mémorial larmoyant, no pathos.

D'un côté, Philippe Franck, fondateur de Transcultures, agitateur transdisciplinaire (connu aussi sous son alias Paradise Now) qui incarnait une vision passeuse des arts sonores et numériques.
De l'autre, notre ami Christophe Bailleau, musicien, photographe et plasticien, qui déploie depuis des décennies une esthétique de nuance et/ou de chaos. Ensemble, au sein de Pastoral, ils ont bâti un territoire où ces sensibilités puissent s'exprimer en toute impunité.
Fidèle à cet ADN, l'ouvrage navigue aux frontières poreuses de l'ambient, de textures post-folk et surtout d' expérimentation. Aux commandes de cette ultime destinée, Christophe a repris les maquettes laissées en lévitation avec une retenue exemplaire. Aucune couture artificielle ne vient trahir l'ouvrage. Bien au contraire, l'album érige l'inachèvement en manifeste esthétique, une matière suspendue, habitée par la force de la réminiscence.

Released by Transonic and Mahorka, this final chapter brings the project of Pastoral to fruition—the duo forged in 2010 by Christophe Bailleau and Philippe Franck.
Crafted following the passing of the latter in January 2025, this album bypasses the pitfalls of a tearful memorial with absolute grace, entirely devoid of pathos.
Behind this collaboration lay two singular, friendly trajectories.
On one side, Philippe Franck: founder of Transcultures, a transdisciplinary agitator (also known under his alias Paradise Now) who embodied a visionary, bridging approach to sound and digital arts.
On the other side, our friend Christophe Bailleau : musician, photographer, and visual artist, who has spent decades deploying an aesthetic of nuance and/or chaos. Together, within Pastoral, they built a territory where these sensibilities could freely express themselves without restriction.
True to this DNA, the work navigates the porous borders of ambient music, post-folk textures, and above all, experimentation. At the helm of this ultimate journey, Christophe took over the floating demos with exemplary restraint. No artificial seams betray the work. On the contrary, the album elevates unfinished creation into an aesthetic manifesto—a suspended substance, inhabited by the power of reminiscence.
"PASTORAL was a door to an open world," Bailleau shares in the liner notes. A promise kept: that door remains wide open. Philippe Franck's absence is never frozen in tragedy; it becomes an invitation to listen closely to the luminous interstices - between the sounds, a suspended epitaph.
