OCP :: enough is never enough


Un peu d'histoire ? Avouons-le, le premier choc fut autant rude que la révélation fut durable et profonde : 5 septembre 2006 . L'histoire pouvait se mettre en marche et sans vouloir se retourner, elle accompagne ce rédacteur depuis ce jour là.
OCP est un artiste généreux et intense, c'est aussi un artiste dont la réelle modernité s'affranchit facilement des codes et des usages de "genres", procédant par capillarité sans jamais tomber dans le piège. Un exercice de style peu facile, au regard du confort méthodiquement adopté par la volonté générale et les lois sirupeuses du ... marché.

Un mois et demi après l'énigmatique accélération du single 46, João déclare catégoriquement que Enough is never Enough ! le ton est donné. Minimalisme à l'outrance ascétique, dès l'ouverture, Getting physical se charge de synthétiser le territoire égotique, atterrissage demandé et retour au périmètre de l'enveloppe. Tentative d'évasion ? Wander no more fixe le tempo sans modération, martial. Administrateur de ses propres contradictions formelles, Never worst envoie un premier signal crypté et insurrectionnel, la matrice frissonne. Nul recours possible, en digne maitre d'oeuvre, OCP convoque une Heavy guidance, l'homme est avisé.
Véritable virage et prise de risque contextuelle, expansif et flirtant objectivement avec l'industriel, Enough is never enough ouvre de nouvelles perspectives - Highlight !
Et puisque rien n'est jamais acquis, In joy se charge, classiquement, de revenir aux fondamentaux, tandis que Getting there ouvre le champs d'une ultime expérimentation et réussite manifeste : Take care - OCP est un artiste intense et généreux.

A little story ? Let's face it, the first shock was as harsh as the revelation was lasting and profound: September 5, 2006. The story could start and without wanting to turn around, it accompanies this editor since that day.
OCP is a generous and intense artist, it is also an artist whose modernity is easily freed from codes and uses of "genres", proceeding by capillarity without ever falling into the trap. An exercise of style that is not easy, regarding the comfort methodically adopted by the general will and the syrupy laws of ... market.

A month and a half after the enigmatic acceleration of single 46, João categorically declares that Enough is never Enough! The tone is set. Minimalism to ascetic excess, from the opening, Getting physical is responsible for synthesizing the egotistical territory, landing requested and return to the perimeter of the envelope. Attempt to escape? Wander no more sets the tempo without moderation, martial. And since nothing is ever acquired, In joy helps, classically, to return to fundamentals, while Getting there opens the field for an ultimate experimentation and obvious success : Take care - OCP is definitely an intense and generous artist.

jeu savant, entre incongruité, constance et fugacité, ces rejets de João Ricardo ont l'étrange saveur d'un repas gastronomique avalé dans l'urgence sur le coin d'un comptoir de fastfood - fort de ce besoin incessant d'investigations, de combinaisons insolites, d'expérimentations en équilibre précaire et très loin des standards, affligeants produits calibrés, l'homme de Lisbonne poursuit un chemin semé d'embuches aux bienfaisantes aspérités - amateurs de certitudes, s'abstenir.

l'opérateur de cabine polyvalente est-il effervescent ?
Non content d'avoir récemment inauguré, en compagnie d'un ami, le d’ores et déjà remarquable netlabel EDP (Editora do porto), João Ricardo donne allégrement suite au dub inspiré de "premium" avec une magnifique progression atmosphérique, trop modestement intitulée "just" - nous savions ocp "juste" hyper talentueux, nous le savons également désormais hyperactif à 360°

Huw Roberts must have two great reasons to be glad, he just finishes the year 2006 with great news,
first is a brand new serein website and the second one is a great release from João Ricardo declining 5 beautiful and conceptual pieces under the title :: atmos.
Formal minimalism is required ... elegance also.

passed the little cynical pastiche, this EP of João Ricardo is a real successfully fine combination of four engraved tracks. The technoid charm is continuous and residual, surely … all my brain and body need.

close encounters of the third kind ?
never - never the genre terms : noise and spoken words, have been looking so …. Perfectly Ridiculous and perfectly unsignifiant. do we need a target for pissing ?

and then, the encounters …

"artificial insemination"
tubular auto reverse laconic voice on semi-parazited cryptic sound - and likely to scramble the waves for ocp, sweeping beams an indefinite screen and quite as crypto-organic search of signal for t3tsuo. Chemical organization, and always this laconic descriptive and so lyrical voice. (cups, domes) will allow to prolong the contact.

"gene tv"
still in this scrambling (brouillage) and satured evp's (electronic voices phenomenas) ocp gives us the first sound score of a crawling tv program (…terrorists … communication …) then t3tsuo, in a disconcerting (and "traditional"…) attitude, punctuates the litany of the presenter, trunk-man, TV-humanoïd ? confrontation with these two versions appears quite charismatic

Finally "neo drug(s)ismo" through ocp, brings us all the “comfort” and the “quietude” of the chemical lures, whereas t3tsuo involves us in a neuro wadding carapace.

This experiment is to be missed under any pretext.
Mimi Records, there, have signed one of the most inspired hybrid project since a very long time.
